Our Spirituality

Mary Potter developed a spirituality based on St. Louis Marie de Montfort’s ‘True Devotion’ and incorporated it into our founding charism. One of the first books that she wrote was ‘The Path of Mary’ to introduce people to ‘True Devotion’ and to prepare them to live by it. From 1876, Mary Potter began promoting this Marian Spirituality through her writings.

In Mary, Mother of Jesus, we find a model of discipleship that leads us to a generous self-giving – a discipleship rooted in prayer that leads to action.

Our Mission

Our model of faith and service is Mary, mother of Jesus. We share in Mary’s maternal and evangelising role in the Church. Our mission finds its expression through the original, common and constant ministries of prayer and care for those who are sick and dying.

Though our works may vary, we are called to show the tender mercy of God, the healing presence of Jesus and the maternal love of Mary to the people we serve.

Intercessions

Let us offer praise and thanksgiving to God for the blessings he has gifted to Little Company of Mary over the past hundred and more years, and ask that our lives will continue to reflect God’s healing presence in all that we do. Lord, hear us …..
Response: Lord, graciously hear us

For all who share in the spiritual heritage and vision of Venerable Mary Potter, and for all here present, that their hearts be ever raised in prayer, their hands extended in service, and their loved ones be always blessed. Lord, hear us ….

We express our gratitude for the privilege of dedicating this plaque to the memory of our pioneer Sisters who worked under great difficulties during those early years to implant the charism and spirituality of Venerable Mary Potter on the African Continent. Lord, hear us …..

We pray that many may reach out a hand of solidarity, compassion and love to the poor and destitute, so that their burden of poverty, loneliness and suffering may be made a little lighter and the way a little brighter, especially for those who in numerous instances live without hope. Lord, hear us ….

We thank you, Lord, for the dedication of the principal, teachers and staff of this School as they so generously share their expertise with the children. May they be blessed, strengthened and supported in all that they do to inspire and encourage their students. Lord, hear us …..
